More info
X-Mid 1 Solid - is a variation of the X-Mid 1, designed specifically for colder environments, including winter camping and trekking in windy regions like Northern Europe and Patagonia. Despite its specialization, it remains an outstanding all-purpose backpacking tent.

Weighing only 825 grams (29 ounces), this trekking pole shelter is remarkably stormworthy, user-friendly, and spacious. X-Mid 1 has become one of the most awarded tents. It has earned numerous accolades, including best tent awards from The Trek, Outdoor GearLab, and Section Hiker.

The main difference between the X-Mid 1 and the X-Mid 1 Solid is that the Solid version replaces most of the inner mesh with a 15D woven fabric. This solid fabric is used on the roof to prevent condensation from being knocked off by high winds, and on the walls to block drafts and splatter. Mesh remains on the upper half of the doors to allow for airflow and visibility.

With a rectangular floor and offset dual-pole structure, the X-Mid 1 Solid uses trekking poles or Durston Z-Flick Tent Poles for setup, making it lightweight at 825 grams and easy to adjust. Made from durable Silpoly (silicone-coated polyester), it resists water and UV damage without sagging when wet.

The tent’s floor measures 229 cm by 81 cm, providing ample space for one person and their gear, with a peak height of 117 cm for comfortable sitting. It includes two large vestibules for gear storage and two doors for convenient access and ventilation. Multiple vents and a mesh inner tent reduce condensation and improve airflow.

The X-Mid 1 Solid offers excellent rain protection with a waterproof rating around 3500 mm for the fly. Its dual-pole structure and low-profile design enhance stability in windy conditions. Versatile in setup, it can be configured as a minimalist shelter or with full insect protection. When packed, it is compact and easy to carry.

Additionally, the X-Mid 1 Solid is modified for windier conditions with premium low-stretch guylines, buckles on the fly zippers, and extra reinforcement at the optional hem stake-out points. The color of the X-Mid 1 Solid canopy is a darker green known as Alpine Sage.

Use Groundsheet from Durston to give extra protection and a cleaner floor for your X-Mid tent.

Package includes tent with stuff sack. Aluminum stakes (8 required) are sold separately here.

Optimal GeometryPatented X-Mid geometry with offset poles provides excellent stormworthiness and ease of pitching for less weight than any other geometry.
SpaciousThe diagonal (offset pole) ridgeline increases headroom and interior volume over other dual pole shelters.
Non Sag FabricThe X-Mid has been a pioneer of lightweight polyester fabric. Polyester doesn't absorb water and sag like nylon, so the shelter retains its structural integrity in wet conditions. Our passionate advocacy for polyester was initially met with resistance from many established companies using nylon, but has since led to polyester becoming widely recognized as a superior material and with many competitors now following our lead.
Stormworthy ShapeThe X-Mid shape is an ideal all around shape for stormworthiness (balancing wind and snow shedding). It does this via consistently moderate panel slopes where all the panels are an ideal 50 - 55 degrees, while most tents contain an inconsistent mix of shallower panels (worse for snow shedding) and steeper panels (worse for wind performance).
Dual Vestibules The dual vestibules are large, tall and put the main area beside the door instead of blocking it. A backpack fits easily in the main area.
Dual Doorways The dual doorways are large, not blocked by trekking poles, allow for cross ventilation, and have a protected design so the inner stays dry when the doors are open.
Dual Vents  Dual adjustable peak vents minimize condensation yet can close during harsh conditions.
Dual Pockets Dual interior peak pockets allow for storage and provide a convenient way to suspend a headlamp for reading in the tent.
Full Coverage Fly A full coverage fly extends low to the ground to block drafts and rain splatter, but can also be raised higher for increased ventilation.
Optional GuyoutsOptional peak and side panel guyouts plus eight additional stake points around the base allow the shelter to be solidly reinforced for harsh conditions.
Protected Setup A protected setup pitches fly first to keep the floor and inner tent dry during setup in the rain. The inner tent can be added later or kept clipped inside the fly.
Doublewall A full doublewall design with separate fly and inner components avoids potential contact with fly condensation and allows for modular use, including pitching the inner only in fair weather and using the fly as a tarp shelter for 1 or 2 occupants (ideal for ski touring).
Simple Pitch Ultra-simple pitch with just four stakes. The inner tent can be added separately or left clipped inside for a quicker setup.
Magnetic Door Toggle Magnetic toggles allow the fly and interior doors to be closed easily with one hand.
Collapsible VestibulesVestibules can be collapsed to fit the tent into small sites.
Small Packed SizeWith light fabrics and no tent poles or struts, the X-Mid packs very small and into any shape. We supply a stuff sack that makes the tent short enough to store horizontally in any pack.
Fully Waterproofed SeamsUnlike many trekking pole shelters, our seams are factory waterproofed so user seam sealing is not required. We use a mix of seam taping and proprietary waterproof seam technology.
