Saves 70% of the weight of many shovels
Saves energy when digging on sloping ground
Easy to use in confined snow holes
Curved shape fits in your sack for quick access
Can be used as a splint, seat, shelf or to reinforce a snow bollard
2 side handles make the Snow Claw Guide snow shovel an easily manageable tool
Incredibly tough high-impact copolymer is very flexible but transforms into a rigged tool by slightly squeezing the handles together in a "U" shape
Material remains pliable and crack resistant to -20°F
At only 173g the SnowClaw can save 500g on many other snow shovels and can be more efficient to use, especially on sloping ground or confined spaces (inside a snow shelter).
"... we took the Snow Claw out for a serious test - avalanche fields in the Northern Briger Mountains of South West Montana... we were impressed. We were able to move three to five times more snow than our comrades with their serious aluminum shovels." ProLiteGear
"... can actually move a lot of snow in an emergency." Rock & Ice Magazine
The SnowClaw's tough copolymer construction will usually cope with consolidated avalanche debris unless conditions are very, very cold (-20'C or below), when a strong aluminium shovel is preferable. It is therefore well suited to Scottish rather than Arctic conditions. Use the curved edge and bend the SnowClaw to increase its strength when dealing with compacted snow.
The SnowClaw's slightly curved shape makes it easy to stow inside any rucksack. The handle holes or webbing slots can be used to attach it to the outside of your sack.
The SnowClaw fits on, or in, any backpack. It can be utilized as a compression panel, also helping to protect your pack from items like crampons or skis. SnowClaw also adds pack support when stowed inside.
